Broad Spectrum CBD FAQs
What is broad-spectrum CBD oil?
Broad-spectrum CBD (cannabidiol) oil contains almost every compound found in the cannabis sativa plant, besides tetrahydrocannabinol (THC).
The lack of THC is what makes broad-spectrum CBD oil different from full-spectrum products that contain legal traces of the cannabinoid, usually less than 0.3%.
Broad-spectrum CBD products also differ from CBD isolate. This is CBD in its purest form, with no other cannabis compounds – just cannabidiol.
Does broad-spectrum CBD oil get you high?
The simple answer is no.
Whilst CBD and THC are derived from the cannabis plant – and they both impact the cannabinoid type 1 receptors (CB1) in the brain – they actually have opposite effects.
THC activates the receptors and produces a feeling of euphoria, whereas CBD helps you feel more relaxed without getting “high”.
Unlike full-spectrum CBD products that contain trace amounts, broad-spectrum CBD oil doesn’t contain any THC – making it an excellent choice for those who want to avoid experiencing an intoxicating effect after taking their CBD.
As always, carefully read the label on the bottle of your CBD oil and check the ingredients before you start using it.
Is broad-spectrum CBD right for me?
Research suggests that the chemical compounds of the cannabis plant (cannabinoids, terpenes, flavonoids, etc.) are more effective when they are taken together. This is what’s known as the entourage effect.
If you want to get the full benefits of the entourage effect and don’t mind consuming some THC, then a full-spectrum CBD product may be a better choice than broad-spectrum CBD.
On the flip side, broad-spectrum CBD oil provides plenty of its own benefits.
It contains terpenes which are aromatic compounds found in various plants, including the Cannabis sativa. When used alongside other cannabinoids, it’s believed to help with inflammation, pain, anxiety, epilepsy, and more.
