Do you suffer from chronic pain?
Whilst there are several things you can do to help manage your pain – including gentle exercise such as walking, swimming, cycling, yoga or Pilates – more and more people are turning to CBD oil for chronic pain.
How does CBD oil help with chronic pain?
First and foremost, it’s worth pointing out that it’s safe to use over-the-counter painkillers, such as paracetamol and ibuprofen, for painful conditions. This will enable you to be more active and continue working.
However, if you’ve been suffering for a while, and the pain still hasn’t subsided, CBD oil could be the perfect solution for you.
Currently, there is insufficient evidence to prove the efficacy of CBD oil for chronic pain – but there are several studies that indicate it can relieve pain, without the psychoactive effects of tetrahydrocannabinol (the chemical compound responsible for feelings of euphoria).
CBD has pain-relieving properties that come into play when the compound interacts with the body’s endocannabinoid system. Composed of receptors and neurotransmitters that regulate metabolism, mood, appetite, anxiety and pain perception, CBD oil alters these functions to help ease the pain.
What’s the best way to take CBD oil for chronic pain?
As with most things, before you start using CBD oil for chronic pain relief, you must speak with your doctor to determine whether it’s suitable for you. After all, the last thing you want to happen is for the CBD to interact with the medication you’re already taking!
If your doctor is happy for you to use CBD oil, it’s worth starting off with a low dosage and monitoring how it makes you feel – both immediately after taking it and several hours later. If the CBD oil isn’t providing enough relief, increase the dose in small increments until you find what works best for you.
